Building Tomorrow’s Leaders
Community Banking Intern Program
FNB Bastrop’s Intern Program is more than a summer opportunity—it’s an immersive, eight-week experience designed to shape the next generation of community bankers. Rooted in FNB’s Service and Community culture, the program gives interns hands-on exposure to the real work that drives a successful community bank far beyond our walls.
In the Summer of 2025, interns contributed to significant projects for our bank, such as budget creation and sub-debt analysis. Through rotations with multiple departments, interns were able to learn the major functions of a community bank and engage with banking professionals in a variety of roles. These experiences provided exposure to the many possibilities of a career in community banking.
Service and education are central to the program. Interns enjoyed full day site visits to some of our customers’ businesses to learn true relationship banking and see the success this can create firsthand. They also helped facilitate FNB’s Banking Buddies Financial Literacy Summer Camp, inspiring younger students to understand money and build healthy financial habits. Interns enjoyed a fieldtrip to the Texas Bankers Association to gain industry perspective and broader banking landscape. They also worked alongside local nonprofits such as the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, reinforcing the importance of service to our community.
The program culminated with a capstone research and presentation project focused on bank acquisitions and growth, challenging interns to think strategically about the future of community banking.
At FNB Bastrop, investing in people is investing in our collective futures. Through our intern program, FNB is proud to develop skills, values-driven professionals who will carry forward our mission of community banking—today and for years to come
